Irrigation systems - from large-scale agricultural to residential lawn sprinklers - depend on the integrity of a centrifugal pump for operation. Most of these pumps are not monitored and in many cases, multiple pumps are required for the smooth operation of the irrigation system. These pumps often draw water from canals or ponds where debris and fluctuating water levels threaten to cause loss of prime and pump overheating. Often running for years in harsh environments, seals and piping can be in place well past their rated service lives leading to air leakage and blocked discharges - the death knells of a pump.
